Effective and equitable access to education for all requires robust education data systems to monitor potential inequalities. Subsequently, Education Management Information Systems (EMIS) have been deployed, with varying degrees of effectiveness.
This study aimed to examine strengths and weaknesses of the current EMIS in Sierra Leone and determine how it can be made more disability inclusive. The study revealed that EMIS in Sierra Leone is nascent and while a major government priority, weaknesses need to be addressed to maximise performance.
At present, EMIS presents aggregate data, including disability status, and no individual student data making educational planning challenging. The study provides recommendations for system strengthening.
