This cross-sectional study of 302 females (aged 12+) reports high risk though low awareness about female genital schistosomiasis (FGS). Only 5.6% of participants reported being aware of schistosomiasis. None of the participants were aware of FGS. The widespread lack of knowledge about FGS, compounded by significant exposure risks from contact with freshwater bodies, underscore the need for comprehensive control efforts which prioritise access to effective diagnostic tools and treatment options while also promoting targeted behaviour change interventions and wider awareness about schistosomiasis.
