    • What is the impact of provision of spectacles on the quality of life of school-aged children?
    • What are the costs and cost-effectiveness of school-based screening and provision of spectacles?
    • What are the implications of the school-based screening programmes delivered at scale for national education and health budgets?

    Summary

    To measure the spectacle use and the quality of life gained by vision correction and use of spectacles; to analyse the costs and cost drivers of vision screening in integrated school health programmes; and to analyse the budget requirements for sustaining and extending the intervention to other geographical locations.

    Added value of the study

    Improved knowledge on the cost and affordability of school health programmes and estimating the impact of these programmes will support better programming and advocacy.

    Policy and practice implications

    Better programming and evidence-informed resource allocation decisions on school health initiatives.
