Effectiveness of community-based eye care: process and considerations

In this commentary, we argue that it is very important to invest in the conduct of implementation research alongside randomised controlled trials (RCTs) that assess the effectiveness of community-based eye care interventions.

Detailed monitoring of the fidelity of the interventions and supplementary qualitative studies are critical to providing evidence of how the intervention works (or does not) on the ground and what the bottlenecks are.
