COVID-19 and neglected tropical diseases in Africa: impacts, interactions, consequences

COVID-19 has preoccupied the global community recently and will continue to do so. This editorial looks at the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic could have on programmes for the control and elimination of NTDs in Africa and the opportunity for NTD partners to react and provide support in ways that assist the response to COVID-19 in practical ways. The value of interventions beyond MDA (e.g. WASH) and the existence of a vital volunteer resource is emphasized and recognised in the authors’ concluding list of suggestions.
