In this editorial, we highlight the role that international non-governmental organisations (iNGOs) can play in responding to the needs for evidence to advance the urgent global eye health agenda.
Because of our understanding of service delivery realities, our ability to imbed implementation research into eye health programmes, and our close engagement with national and local decision-making processes, iNGOs such as Sightsavers are key players in eye health research.
The diverse and quality content of the International Health supplement “Achieving universal eye health coverage: the role of high quality evidence and implementation research” is a testament to this work.
