Leaving no one behind in neglected tropical disease (NTD) programmes: lessons from implementing a risk assessment tool

Summary

Sightsavers is committed to a ‘leave no one behind’ approach, recognising that marginalised communities are at greater risk of being excluded from neglected tropical disease (NTD) interventions. The rollout of a Leave No One Behind (LNOB) Risk Assessment tool was reviewed to highlight lessons learnt from implementation across different contexts and to disseminate findings; a use case example of the tool is provided from the East region of Cameroon. Findings suggest that actions generated from the tool are appropriate and implementation ready – leading to positive programme outcomes for marginalised populations. Such approaches are much needed to progress towards current disease elimination targets.
