Prevalence of trachoma in Yemen: results of population-based prevalence surveys of 42 evaluation units in nine governorates

The purpose of this study undertaken 2013- 2015 was to determine the the prevalence of trachoma in 66 rural districts of nine governorates in Yemen. The 66 districts were grouped into 42 evaluation units (EUs) and population-based cross-sectional surveys conducted using the standardised mapping methodology developed for the Global Trachoma Mapping Project.

The results concluded that mass drug administration with azithromycin is needed in eight EUs and support for trichiasis surgeries is needed in five EUs.
