The Gambia has eliminated trachoma as a public health problem: successes and challenges

This article provides the history and summary of major milestones in The Gambia’s successful campaign to eliminate trachoma as a public health problem. It provides insights to some of the key challenges that the national programme faced, and sets out some lessons for other endemic countries to consider when planning elimination dossiers.
