This report presents the results from a cluster-randomised controlled trial (CRCT) of a caregiver training intervention in Thyolo District in the Southern Region of Malawi. The CRCT was part of a larger study that focused on the quality of early childhood development and education (ECDE).
The study found that the training had positive effects on the development of pre-school children and resulted in a lower proportion of children experiencing social and/or language-related delays. The training also had a positive impact on teaching practices, specifically in relation to how caregivers interacted and communicated with the children.
